William Arthur Curtis, 65, of Route 1, Julian, died Sunday morning in Cone Memorial hospital. He had been critically ill for a week. A native of Randolph County, he was a sawmill operator and a member of the Pleasant Garden Methodist church. Funeral service was held today (Monday) at 4 o’clock at Coble’s Lutheran church near Julian. The Rev. Jack Holder, pastor of the Straight-Way Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in the Coble’s Lutheran Church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, the former Mamie Coble; one daughter, Mrs. C.O. Bowman of Julian; three sons, Arlie Curtis of Route 1, Climax, John Curtis and Tom Curtis of Route 1, Julian; four sisters, Mrs. John Byrd of Greensboro, Mrs. W.A. Corsbie, Mrs. Harlan Coble and Mrs. Floyd Coble, all of Route 1, Julian; one brother, T.P. Curtis of Route 1, Julian and seven grandchildren.8 
Death*He died on 2 September 1956 at Julian, Guilford, North Carolina, at age 65; in a Greensboro hospital; buried at Coble's Lutheran Church Cemetery.9,10

JULIAN - Mrs. Stella Curtis Berry, 80, of 6013 Monnett Rd., died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Coble's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Grady Beaver officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Guilford County, Mrs. Berry was the daughter of the later Mable and Pearl Curtis and was a member of Coble's Lutheran Church. She was employed by Burlington Industries and Precision Fabrics for 35 years. She was an avid gardener and quilter. Mrs. Berry was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her church and community will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Grant Berry and her brothers, Howard Curtis and Charles Curtis.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Carolyn Berry; Gregory and Dolores Berry; daughter, Mollie Davenport; daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Barry Jones; eight grandchildren, Kathy Wilkinson, Karen Lauder, Todd Berry, Beth Davenport, Matthew Davenport, Brian Jones, Traci Jones, and Daniel Berry; four great grandchildren, Emily Lauder, Scott Wilkinson, Rachel Wilkinson, and Katie Lauder; her sister, Dorothy Brown and an extended church and community family.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7-9 at Loflin Funeral Home in Liberty and at other times they will be at their homes or the home of Mrs. Berry, 6013 Monnett Road.
Memorial contributions may be made to Coble's Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 5200 Coble Church Rd., Julian, NC 27283.5

Lewis M. Curtis, 75, of Franklinville, died at the Randolph hospital at 3 o’clock Saturday morning following declining health for six months and a week’s serious illness following a stroke of paralysis suffered Saturday a week ago. Mr. Curtis was a retired farmer and carpenter, and was a member of the Methodist Church of Franklinville. Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Sunday, at 4 o’clock at the Franklinville Methodist Church, with the pastor, Rev. J.T. Shackford, in charge. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. E.A. Hardy, of Washington, D.C; Mrs. H.L. Lyles, of Asheboro; one brother, W. Herbert Curtis, of Lynchburg, Va., and several nieces and nephews.6

LIBERTY Mr. John W. Curtis Jr., 81, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, at Moses Cone Hospital. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, in Fairview Cemetery in Liberty, conducted by the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. Bryan Fox. Mr. Curtis was born Dec. 4, 1919, in Liberty. He graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1941, then served his country as a Captain and a Pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corp, flying with the Jolly Roger Squadron in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. He returned to Liberty where he operated the Curtis Theatre and Siler City Drive-In for over 40 years. He served as Mayor of Liberty from 1981 to 1985 and was an active member and Trustee of the First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, May Vestal Curtis of the home; two sons, John W. Curtis III of Hattiesburg, Miss. and James L. Curtis of Aspen, Colo; sister, Cladora Fogleman of Liberty; two grandsons, Christopher John Curtis and Craig Joseph Curtis.
