She is survived by her son, Gary Mosier of Martinsville; four grandchildren; one great niece; seven great grandchildren. June was preceded in death by a son, James Mosier and sister, Helen Anderson. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at New South Park Cemetery with Pastor Larry Osmon officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday prior to the graveside service from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 P.M. at Costin Funeral Chapel.2

He was born on Wednesday, April 12, 1922, in Martinsville, Indiana, to the late Robert Earl and Sarah J. (Alexander) Curtis.Maurice was a 1941 graduate of Martinsville High School. He worked for the State of Indiana as a road inspector and retired in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion Post #230 and a former member of the Morgan County Civil Defense. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, and being on the C.B. Radio. He had especially enjoyed dancing with his wife, Marie.

Surviving are his sons, Robert Curtis and wife Sherry of Greencastle, Gary Curtis of Martinsville, Dwight Curtis and wife Kathy of Martinsville and Mark Curtis and wife Brenda of Martinsville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Marie (Ratts) Curtis, whom he married on July 31, 1948, and she died on October 17, 1991; brother, Eugene "Gene" Curtis; grandsons, Tony Curtis and Robbie Curtis. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2015, at Costin Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Gary Cornwell officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Costin Funeral Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville.6

Holmes and Son Chapel, where Mrs. William Reynolds played organ selections. The burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery where pallbearers were Charles Avery, Hugh Kersey, Stanley Byram, Evart Smith, When G. Hochstetler and Burchard Horton. Mrs. Curtis, who had been ill for several months, was born in the Eminence community but had lived in Martinsville the greater part of her life. Her late husband was a long-time coach of the Martinsville High School basketball team and during the last years before his retirement was superintendent of the local school.5,4

After having been ill only since Tuesday, Mrs. Stella Curtis, 76, of 490 West Pike Street died Thursday evening at 7:30 in the Morgan County Memorial Hospital. She had been taken to the hospital when she became ill. Mrs. Curtis was born in Jasper County, Ill., July 18 1881, but had lived here since her marriage to Edward Lewis in 1901. Her parents were Francis and Mary Malcolm Freeman. Mr. Lewis died in 1911, and in 1913 she was married to Charles Curtis. Mrs. Curtis died in 1945. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Mt. Olive Methodist Church but had been attending the local Nazarene Church for the past several years.
Surviving here are two daughters and a son, Mrs. Ethel Hill, Miss Hazel Lewis, and Ralph Curtis, all of Martinsville, and five grandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Grace Bellah, died in 1946, and a son, Robert, died in infancy. She also leaves two stepdaughters, Mrs. Zora Payton of Martinsville and Mrs. Lavearn Newby of Indianapolis; three stepsons, Wallace and Ward Curtis, both of Martinsville R.R., and Hobart Curtis of Martinsville; and several step-grandchildren. George Freeman of Martinsville is a brother. Another brother and two sisters are deceased. The Rev. Earl Marvel will conduct her funeral services Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the Cure and Hensley Chapel. Interment will follow in the Foster Cemetery.

A large number of friends and relatives paid final tribute to Mrs. Stella Curtis of 490 West Pike Street, who died Thursday, during last rites Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock. Conducting the service in the Cure and Hensley Chapel was the Rev. Earl Marvel. Mrs. Edward James played organ selections and accompanied Mrs. William Reynolds and Mrs. Donald Johnston who sang “Abide With Me” and “Beyond the Sunset.” Interment took place in the Foster Cemetery. Casket bearers were Vern Bowman, William and Wendell Phillips, Lester Williams, Ernest Dixon, and Harold Clodfelder. Friends of the family carried flowers. [21 October 1957]6
