ObitNorman B.'s obituary was published in the Chronicle on 19 February 2003:
Norman B. Curtis, 61, a long-time resident of the Winlock and Chehalis areas, passed away Feb. 18, 2003 at his daughters home in Castle Rock after a 10 month battle with colon cancer. He never gave up the fight, his body just grew tired. He was the first son born to Bernice May and Norman S. Curtis on Jan. 4, 1942. He was stricken with polio at the age of five. He grew up in Winlock and graduated from Winlock High School in 1960. After graduation, he and a few friends worked on a tugboat in Hawaii. He then went on to graduate from Bates Technical College and spent his lifetime as an auto mechanic, working on motor homes, and heavy-duty trucks as well as cars. He worked 19 1/2 years at Uhlmann Motors in Chehalis and most recently, 15 years at AMT Towing in Olympia as an ASE certified mechanic. He retired in 2002. Along with his love of mechanic work, he also enjoyed the sun, roses, gardening, sweets, and family reunions. In the summer of 2002, he spent two weeks vacationing to Yellowstone Park with his daughter, son-in-law and his two youngest grand-sons. The only vacation he had taken in years, and his first time viewing other states.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lynnette Belcher and her husband Joe of Castle Rock, Jodie Curtis of Wenatchee, a step-son and a step- daughter, two sisters, Sandy Jorgensen of Haveloc, NC and Lorraine Peterson of Longview, one brother, Archie Curtis of Auburn, WA & 7 grand-children, ages 2 1/2-13 years and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 1969 and his mother in 1987. A memorial service will be held at Cattermole Funeral Home in Winlock at 11:00 on Feb. 21, 2003 with his brother Archie officiating. A graveside service will follow at Winlock ceme-tery. A gathering for friends and family will be held at Winlock Fire Hall immediately following.1
