ObitDonald's obituary was published in the Daily Post-Athenian on 31 August 2002:
Donald C. Curtis, 67, let his spirit travel into the next journey on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, after he fought a 2-1/2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a great role model, friend and mentor.
A son of the late Aaron and Lillian Curtis of Etowah, he resided in Stone Mountain, Ga., during his phenomenal career as a salesman. He was a sales manager for 34 years at B.F. Goodrich where he sold
industrial products and later transferred to Thermoid/HBD Industries where he continued to succeed for another 11 years. His business achievements included the Winners Circle Sales Honor Society and the CEO Club for several years. He retired to Loganville, Ga., where he was an avid gardener and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter and the mother of his grandchildren, Susan Volz. He was a dedicated, loyal and loving family man whos gentle spirit and sense of humor left a mark on all who knew him. He had a tender heart and one could always count on him for a friendly smile.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years on Aug. 16, 2002, Janet of Loganville, Ga; one son, Steve of Conyers, Ga; one daughter, Sally of Stone Mountain, Ga; his son-in-law, Bob Volz; and his three
grandchildren, Kristin, Andy and Danny Volz, all of Brookfield, Conn; one sister, Joyce Artis and husband, Don, of Ft. Myers, Fla; one brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Miriam McKissick of Akron,
Ohio; one sister-in-law and husband, Sharon and Robert Perez of Punta Gorda, Fla; and several nieces and nephews. He was an extraordinary man who will be fondly remembered and truly missed by all who knew him. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Saturday in the Snellville Chapel of Tom M. Wages Funeral Home with Steve Bolen officiating.3
