Emily J. Curtis witnessed the Obit of Benjamin Merl Donovan circa 27 February 1957 at Lincoln Newspaper, Lincoln, Lincoln, Kansas, Lincoln - Ben M. Donovan, prominent Lincoln County rancher, died unexpectedly Friday of a heart attack. Mr. Donovan was born Dec. 3, 1891, on a farm in Scott Township near Barnard. He married Emily J. Curtis April 18, 1937. A lifelong resident of Lincoln County, he was a member of the Saltville Masonic Lodge 59, and a member of the old Pinon Community Church for many years. He is survived by the widow, Emily, and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Low, Barnard. Burial will be in the Union Valley Cemetery.⁴
