Survivors include two daughters, Delma Lovelace of Iuka and Bonnie Sparks of Dennis; one daughter-in-law, Christine Curtis of Iuka; one brother, Marvin Walters of Corinth; two sisters, Nelda Lambert and Nola Houston, both of Iuka; five grandchildren, Ron Curtis of Charlotte, N.C., Janice Childs of Iuka, Jimmy Lovelace of Iuka, Elesha Dailey of Burnsville and Melinda Rees of Rutherfordton, N.C; eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rufus Curtis; two sons, Hildra and Benny Curtis; a daughter-in-law, Myrtle Curtis; and 10 brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Rickey Houston, Tim Childs, Jimmy Lovelace, Eugene Lovelace, Phillip Stanley, Randy Stanley, and Ron Curtis. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Dailey, Lee Curtis, Nathan Lovelace, Phil Sparks and Jessie Stiltner.1

Benny L. Curtis, 73, of Iuka, Miss., died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at his residence. He was a son of Zilpha Mae Walters Curtis (1913-2007) of Iuka and the late C.R. [Charles Rufus] Curtis (1911-1976). He was also preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Myrtle Nunley Curtis who died April 18, 2005. Mr. Curtis was a lifelong educator and finished his career by retiring from the State Department of Education in 1986, where he served for many years as the executive director of the State Advisory Council on Vocational Education. He earned his bachelor of science and master's in education from Mississippi State University. He also did post graduate work toward his PhD at MSU. In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, Ron Curtis of Charlotte; one daughter, Melinda Rees of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Delma Lovelace of Iuka, and Bonnie Sparks of Dennis, Miss; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Bro. Frank Wilson and Bro. Bob Moritz will officiate. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Iuka.1

Melvin Dolan Curtis was born August 18, 1934 in Oktaha, OK, to Arlen Kelley Curtis and Sybil Pearl (Ross) Curtis, and went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 23, 2009. He married the love of his life Corene (Epperson) Curtis in Muskogee, OK May 29, 1953. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in May. They were blessed with two wonderful children, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Dolan worked 28 years for Swift and Company and then worked at Fort Howard Paper Company, until retirement at the age of 62. Dolan enjoyed working on his farm, riding his John Deer Tractor and four wheeler, working with his cattle and working in his garden. His fondest love was spending precious time with his family and serving the Lord. He loved to sing praises to the Lord often singing solos at his church. Dolan was a member and a Deacon at First Assembly of God in Checotah, OK.He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and mother-in-law and father-in-law. Dolan is survived by his beloved wife, Corene, son, Randall Dolan Curtis, Sr. daughter, Sherri Randolph and husband, David. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Randall Dolan Curtis, Jr., and wife, Sandra, Danielle Ranee Curtis, Christian Andis, two step-grandsons, Kyle and Chase Randolph and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Corene Curtis. He is also survived by his brother, Duane and wife, Jeanne Curtis of Checotah, OK and brother-in-law, Charles and Doris Epperson of Muskogee. He is also loved by many special cousins, nephews, nieces and great friends. Services will be held Friday, June 26th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Butler, and Randall Dolan Curtis, Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Greenhill Cemetery, Muskogee. Pallbearers will be Bob Bernard, Johnny Bright, Ed Helton, Eugene Parker, Clyde Pride and Rick Brown.1
