Joyce June Curtis, age 49, of Rt 1, Kirksville, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, (February 21, 1984), in her home. The daughter of Delpha Frances Acton and Audrey Gideon Floyd, she was born on December 29, 1934 in Kirksville. One July 30, 1961 in Kirksville, she was united in marriage to Wendell Curtis, who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Todd "Shellie" Eitel of Wheeling, MO, Cindy Curtis and Linda Curtis both of Kirksville; one son Wendell Gail Curtis of Kirksville; for brothers, Buell Leroy Floyd of Gary, Indiana, Pearl Junior Floyd of Kansas City, Charles Eugene Floyd of Brashear and William Robert Floyd of Kirksville; one sister Mrs. Verlan "Patricia Ann" Niece of Excello and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Curtis was preceded in death by her mother in September 1946; her father in 1974 and her foster parents, Bert Mercer in 1960 and Blanche Mercer in 1972. Mrs. Curtis attended the Kirksville schools. She had lived her entire life in Kirksville. After her schooling, she was employed for the A & P Market for eight years. For the last ten years she was employed with Twin Pines Adult Care Center, where she was the current Medical Records Supervisor. Mrs. Curtis and her husband have lived on the same farm for the last 18 years. She was a member of the Yarrow Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, (February 24, 1984), at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Foster-Fohn Memorial Home. Rev. Meredith Eller will officiate. Mrs. Dianthe Cable will be the organist and Dennis and Cathy Turner will sing "Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond The Sunset". Burial will be in the Yarrow Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Bruce Floyd, Eric Floyd, Dale Curtis, J.C. Curtis, J.C. Roberts and Richard Young. Honorary bearers will be Tom Hays, Jr. and Joe Curtis.2

Shellie June Eitel, 55, Hamilton, Mo., passed away on December 28, 2017, at the Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron. She previously lived in Wheeling, Mo., before moving to Hamilton in 1994. Shellie was born on June 24, 1962, in Kirksville, Mo., to Wendell Leroy and Joyce June (Floyd) Curtis. She was raised on the family farm at Yarrow, Mo., and graduated from the Kirksville High School in 1980. She married Todd Eitel on June 11, 1982, in La Plata, Mo. Shellie worked for 18 years for the Hamilton school district as an assistant kitchen manager and cook and then became the manager and maintenance director for the Rosewood apartments in Hamilton in the summer of 2012.

Shellie was a board member for the Caldwell County Health Department, board member of the Caldwell County Foundation Cancer Assistance Fund, and board member of the Caldwell County Fair. She was baptized in the Methodist church as a child and occasionally attended the Methodist Church in Hamilton. She was very passionate about teaching her children how to show cattle and participating in FFA, 4H, and Missouri State Fair competitions. Her family received the Caldwell County Farm Family of the year honor at the Missouri State Fair in 2016.
Shellie enjoyed picking up and spending time with Gage and Bailey and would often spoil them with Pepsi, trips to get ice cream, Cheetos, and lottery tickets.

Survivors: Husband, Todd, of the home; children-Heather June (Matthew) Miller, Hamilton; and Kyle Todd (Megan) Eitel, Hamilton; grandchildren-Gage and Bailey June Miller; sisters-Cindy Smith, Sumner, Mo., and Lindy (Jeff) Gray, Green City, Mo; brother-Gail (Lynette) Curtis, La Plata, Mo; In-laws-Lavon and Jacquline Eitel, La Plata; brothers-in-law-Andy (Rhonda) Eitel, Hannibal, Mo., and Sheldon (Lynn) Eitel, Las Vegas, Nevada; sister-in-law-Vonna (Brian) Scholzen, Olathe, Ks; nieces-Ashley Smith, Whitney Sayre, Natalie Patterson, Athena Clubine, and Ashlyn and Elena Scholzen; and nephews-Matt Smith, Aaron Brantner, Colton and Logan Curtis, and Gavin Scholzen. Shellie was preceded in death by her parents and numerous other family members, aunts and uncles.1
