We regret exceedingly to announce the passing of Mr. C.L. Wagener, well and favorably known in Altamont, his recent home, and Greenville, his former home. Mr. Wagener had been in poor health for some time, yet his death, on Saturday night, was a great shock to his friends and loved ones. Funeral services were conducted from the home of his son R.D. Wagener at two on Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Talmadge Defrees of Smithboro, nephew of Mr. Wagener, had charge of the services. We give the following sketch of this good man.
Cyrus Lincoln Wagener was born in Darke County, Ohio on October 7, 1861 and passed away on Saturday evening, November 2nd at the age of sixty eight years and twenty six days. When he was quite young, his parents, John and Margaret Jones Wagener, came to Illinois, locating near Pleasant Mound, at which place he grew to manhood.
Mr. Wagener was married on March 29, 1885 to Rebecca E. Defrees, who preceded him in death four years ago. To this union three sons were born-Ovid Guy, who died at the age of seven, and R.D. Wagener and John Wagener, who reside in Altamont. Mr. Wagener also leaves four grand children and three sisters-Mrs. Mildred Tibbutt, Mrs. Dora Reed of Kingman, Kansas and Mrs. Elizabeth Dryer of Miami, Florida. In addition there are many nieces and nephews and a host of friends to mourn his passing.12

THOMAS STRETCH, the father of this gentleman, was born in Pennsylvania, January 23, 1784. His father came from Ireland when a mere lad, and for many years was engaged as a school teacher. THOMAS STRETCH was married to MISS ANTHA MUNGER, a native of Vermont, July 27, 1807. His son, JONATHAN, with whom we are more directly interested in this sketch, was born in Champaign County, Ohio, November 7, 1817. From that place, he moved with his parents to Miami County, Ohio, in 1818, thence to Butler County, Ohio, and from that point to Tippecanoe County, Ind., in 1830, with his parents, five brothers and three sisters, of whom all are now deceased, save the subject of this sketch, and one sister, MRS. EMILY GRAVES.

In 1846, MR. STRETCH united in marriage with MISS DELILAH KNIGHT of Carroll County, Ind. His wife is of Irish descent and was born in Miami County, Ohio, removing to Carroll County, Ind., with her parents, at the age of 7 years remaining a citizen of that county until the date of her marriage. They have five children living, viz.: FANNIE, FLORA, JESSIE, ETHEL and LOUI. From early youth, MR. STRETCH has been engaged in the pursuit of farming. That he has been successful in his chosen avocation is witnessed by his fine farm and the evidence of comfort by which he is surrounded. His upright character has not failed to secure him friends among those with whom he has been associated, and his standing in the community is first class.

Obit*Catherine Mildred (Millie)'s obituary was published in the Kingman Leader Courier on circa 8 July 1938:

Mrs. Catherine Tibbutt Passed Away Thursday. Pioneer Resident of State Passed Away at Home in Kingman Last Thursday.
Catherine M. Tibbutt, one of the pioneers of this state since 1883 and a resident of Kingman County since 1884, passed away at her home on Avenue A East at 5:30 last Thursday evening, June 30. Funeral services were held at the Christian church Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock conducted by Rev. A.C. Hornbaker of Edmond, Okla., former Kingman pastor. Burial was at the Walnut Hill cemetery near Kingman. Catherine M. Wagner was born in Miami County, Ohio, on March 30, 1855. She passed away at Kingman, Kansas on June 30, 1938, at the age of 83 years and 3 months. She moved with her parents to Illinois, when she was a girl, and lived there until she was married to George Tibbutt on December 25, 1877.
In 1883 they moved from Illinois to Sumner county, Kansas, but a year later moved to Kingman County, near Rago, where they homesteaded. In 1892 they traded for a farm 2 ½ miles north where they farmed until 1922, when they purchased the present home and resided there until death. Mr. Tibbutt died December 23, 1923.
Mrs. Tibbutt followed in the faith of her parent, which was the German Baptist and after moving to Kansas, was a member of the Dunkard or Brethren church until a few years ago when she affiliated with the Christian church and was a faithful member and a regular attendant when possible and health permitted. Through all the years, she was very active and only recently she was unable to do the little things she enjoyed. It was only two days before her death that she was entirely bedfast. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. R.W. Campbell of Basil and Mrs. L.C. Swanders of Cunningham, and one son, Perry Tibbutt of Hutchison, all of whom had been with her almost constantly a few days before and were at her bedside at the time of her death. In addition to her three children, she is survived by eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of friends.11
