Hennis Fox officiating. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.3

Cleveland Francis Mechem, 70, died Tuesday morning at his home just off of Route 522, about two miles south of town, following a brief illness. He had been on a fishing trip the day before and that evening complained of feeling ill. Born in Morgan county, February 18, 1884, he was a son of the late Francis and Sarah Fleece Mechem. He served a number of years as a railway postal clerk. Most of his service was between Washington, D.C., and Grafton. He retired in 1935.
Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Marie Michael, whom he married March 23, 1922; three children-Jean, Joe and Robert, at home; one sister; Mrs. Gladys Tyre, San Antonio, Texas. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, D.S.T., at Parks Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry H. Rowland, of the Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Greenway Cemetery.2

Mrs. Lillian Marie Mechem, 78, Berkeley Springs, died Wednesday, May 7, 1980 in the George Washington University Hospital, Washington, D.C., following a serious illness for two months. She was born on September 25, 1901, in Morgan County, a daughter of the late Talbert J. and Anna Kees Michael. Mr. Mechem was a homemaker, living most of her life in Morgan County. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Berkeley Springs. Her husband, Cleveland F. Mechem, died in 1954.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Jeane Jurick, Syracuse, N.Y; two sons, Robert L. Mechem, Warrenton, Va., with whom she had been making her home, Joe Mechem, Oakland, Md; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Feeny, Morrrisville, Va., Mrs. Josie Kidwell, Arlington, Va., Mrs. Mildred Little, Reston, Va; two brothers, Guy Michael, Manassas, Va., George Michael, Arlington, Va; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Anglin of Arlington officiating. Interment was in the family plot at Greenway Cemetery.1
