Birth*Wilson Hubert Curtis was born in 1837 at Monroe, Kentucky; place given as Tennessee in 1850; cemetery record is 4 July 1824, which is inconsistent with tax and census records from 1840 to 1850.1,3,2
(Witness) CensusHe appeared on the census of 1840 Monroe, Kentucky, in the household of Moses Curtis and Phebe Murphy; 1 male under 5, 1 female 5-10, 2 females 10-15, 1 male and 1 female 40-50.4

Marriage*Wilson Hubert Curtis married Elizabeth Miller on 28 January 1860 at Marshall, Kentucky; by A.D. McAdams, J.P.6
Census*Wilson Hubert Curtis and Elizabeth Miller appeared on the census of 2 June 1880 at District 15, Bedford, Tennessee, page 343D, occupation farmer, 6 children at home.7
CensusWilson Hubert Curtis and Elizabeth Miller appeared on the census of 4 June 1900 at Richmond, Bedford, Tennessee, ED 16, sheet 13A, occupation farmer, renting, married 34 years, 11 children, 9 living; listed as Wilkes Curtis, born July 1829 in Kentucky.8
Death*Wilson Hubert Curtis died on 16 November 1914 at Shelbyville, Bedford, Tennessee; informant J.G. Curtis; buried at New Bethel Cemetery.9,2
NoteB* Wilson's date of birth is problematical. Moses reported no sons under age 10 in the 1830 census, and the census reports of 1840 and 1840, plus 1840s tax lists all place his date of birth around 1837, as reported in the 1850 census by his parents. However, when Wilson first appeared as a householder in the 1880 census, he gave his age as 53. His cemetery marker is 4 July 1824. He was either 77 or 91 when he died, depending on which record is used.10
