A former Colville resident, Charles Joe Curtis, passed away July 6, in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 78. Funeral service was held July 11 at the Hennessey Funeral Chapel in Spokane. Born Nov 30, 1907, in Asheville, N.C., Mr. Curtis lived in the Colville area until the age of 16. He attended the old Squaw Creek Grade School. He married his wife Alice (Vaagen) Curtis in Spokane, October 20, 1934. She preceded him in death in 1962.
Mr. Curtis, who worked for Long Lake Lumber Company for 40 years, is survived by two daughters, Charlene Bruihl, Portland; Louise Singer, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; one son, Robert Curtis, Hillsboro, Oregon; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Internment was in the Calvary Cemetery in Colville. The Hennessey Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.4

Rosary was said in Spokane at the Hennessey Funeral Home tonight at 7 p.m. and at the Moser Funeral Chapel in Colville Sunday at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph J. Pash, pastor, at the Colville Catholic church, Monday at 9 a.m. Burial is planned at the Calvary Cemetery in Colville.2

She was a lifelong resident Haywood County and daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Nelson Rhinehart and wife of Edgar Curtis who died 1959 and member Canton Central United Methodist Church. Surviving her are five daughters: Janis Love of Greensboro, Rochelle Robinson of Madison, Edna Henson of Canton, Sarah Cassidy of Yorktown, Va. And Reba Wiatt of Newport News, Va; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services were held 2 p.m. Friday at Wells Funeral Chapel, Revs. Jack Robinson, Carl Chastain and Max Smith officiated. Burial at Old Bon-A-Venture Cemetery.6

Nora Rhinehart Curtis, 87, of 80 Pisgah Drive, Canton, died Wednesday August 3 1983 in Haywood County Hospital. She was a lifelong resident Haywood County and daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Nelson Rhinehart and wife of Edgar Curtis who died 1959 and member Canton Central United Methodist Church. Surviving her are five daughters: Janis Love of Greensboro, Rochelle Robinson of Madison, Edna Henson of Canton, Sarah Cassidy of Yorktown, Va. And Reba Wiatt of Newport News, Va; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Services were held 2 p.m. Friday at Wells Funeral Chapel, Revs. Jack Robinson, Carl Chastain and Max Smith officiated. Burial at Old Bon-A-Venture Cemetery.2

Aileen J. Curtis died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was 73. Mrs. Curtis was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church and Sunday school teacher for the Pre-School Department for 40 years. She was also the playroom director at Holiday Bowl. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Hugh E. Curtis;three daughters, Linda Harper, Rossville, and Karen Moser and Lisa Carlton, both of Murfreesboro, Tenn; son, Richard A. Curtis, Lakesite, Tenn; six brothers, Edwin and Gerald Jackson, both of Clyde, N.C., Newell Jackson, Florence, Ala., Donald Jackson, Newberry, S.C., Paul Jackson, Waynesville, N.C., and Ray Jackson, Brevard, N.C; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Ridgeview Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnny Daniels and the Rev. Fate Thomas officiating. The body will be at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Ridgeview Baptist Church, 6 North Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411, or Contact of Chattanooga, 6221 Vance Road,Chattanooga, TN 37421. CLYDE ~ Bobbie Curtis, 79, passed away Sunday, Feb.12, 2006, at the Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 28, 1926, to the Late Matt R. and Margie McClure Caldwell. She retired from Dayco and was a volunteer at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Waynesville Post 5202. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce V. Curtis; one son, Johnny Ray Curtis; and one sister, Vivian Summey.
She is survived by her son Jerry D. Caldwell of Clyde; brother, Earl Caldwell of Clyde; and sister, Faustina Johnson of Atlanta. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive her. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fincher's Chapel Cemetery. The family will greet friends following the services at the cemetery. The Rev. Kitty Crain will officiate.3
