Funeral services for Mrs. A.L. Curtis were held at 4 p.m. Thursday in Heartfield Chapel, following her demise Wednesday after an extended illness. Rev. Nolan M. Fisher, pastor of the Belton Methodist church, of which Mrs. Curtis was a member, conducted the services. Mrs. Curtis was the former Miss Cora Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben D. Lee, Bell County pioneers. She was born in Belton October 20, 1871, and was married to A.L. Curtis, prominent Belton attorney, in 1897. She was an accomplished musician, and was organist at the Methodist church here for many years, being the first organist to play the present pipe organ when it was installed.
She is survived by one son, Lee Curtis, Belton attorney, three grandsons, Lon, Russ and Ben Lee Curtis, and two brothers, Aubrey M. Lee of Mineral Wells, and Ben D. Lee of Palacios. Mrs. Curtis preceded her in death in December 1934. Burial was in the North Belton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Sanderford, James K. Evetts, Leslie Mitchell, Harry Blair, Dr. J.G. Sewell, Dr. H. W. Sewell, all of Belton, Paul Baker of Austin and R.G. Hausinger of Cleburne.2

Webb of Nashville, Tenn. and Parks Webb of Virginia; two sisters, Mary Lee Miller of Madisonville, Tenn. and Annette White of Sweetwater, Tenn. His parents died earlier. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Nelson-Duran Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Spencer officiating.2

B. A. Edwards, one of the best known citizens of this county, died at his home in Charleston Tuesday about eleven o'clock. Mr. Edwards had been in failing health for a number of months. On the 20 instant he suffered a stroke of apoplexy and his condition became critical at once. He lingered for week in this condition.
The funeral occurred from the home in Charleston on Wednesday, the sermon was preached by Rev. S. S. Boyer of Chattanooga who was assisted by Rev. J. A. Whither of this city. Interment was in the family burial ground. Mr. Edwards was 70 years of age, he was a prominent mason and a member of Oviatt Post G. A. R.
He is survived by his widow and children. Mr. Edwards had succeeded in accumulating a considerable fortune. At the time of his death he was president of the Hiwassee Bank at Charleston and was financially interested in other important enterprises there and in other parts of the country.
Mr. Edwards was twice married and was the father of eight children. His sons are, H. H. Edwards with the Tennessee Power Company of this city; Edgar Edwards, connected with his father in business in Charleston; J. M. (James Monroe) Edwards, and I. M. Edwards. both prominent farmers of the county; B. N. (Bascom Napoleon) Edwards, Railway Agent at Wautauga, Tennessee. The daughters are Mrs. W. S. Palmer of Chattanooga; and Mrs. Hugh Hayes of Stillwell Oklahoma. In the death of Mr. Edwards the county has not only lost a man strong financially, but a model citizen and a man who was known far and wide as a friend to all whom he might help.

B.A. Edwards, aged 70 years, died at his home in Charleston, Tenn., Tuesday morning at 10:30 o’clock, after a short illness. He is survived by his wife and eight children, one of the daughters being Mrs. W.S. Palmer of this city. He was president of the Hiwassee Bank at Charleston, and was one of the most prominent and well-liked men of that place. Funeral services were held from his late residence, in Charleston, yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, the Rev. Boyer of Chattanooga, assisted by the Rev. Whitner of Cleveland, Tenn., officiating. Interment was in the family graveyard.11
